Redirecting all web traffic to secure pages

Green background. Two computer monitors. Left monitor http://, right one https:// and black lock. Arrow in middle pointing to the right.

In an effort to provide better visitor experience, maintain visitor trust, and improve the overall security of Gallaudet's website, GTS will start forcing all web traffic to secure pages (https://) beginning August 1, 2018.

When this occurs, any pages within our site that contain mixed content will raise a warning for visitors. This includes images, videos, and other content from unsecure pages (http://). This warning can be very discouraging to users resulting in reduced traffic.

On the other hand, forcing traffic to secure pages and ensuring those pages do not contain mixed content will be very beneficial to the user experience and our relationship with our users/visitors. It will let our visitors know:

  • We (www.gallaudet.edu) are who we claim to be.
  • Their data is secure in transit between their browser and our servers.

GTS Development Services has been actively updating mixed content on these pages for web authors.

On Tuesday, July 31, 2018, we will begin routing website traffic to secure pages. Although we feel confident we've addressed all necessary mixed content issues, there is a possibility of missed issues.

If after July 31, you notice any mixed content issues on your pages, please notify us by submitting a helpdesk ticket.

If you would like to learn more about mixed content pages, please visit Google Developer Web Fundamentals Guide on What is Mixed Content.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out to the helpdesk.
