Anti-Racism Training for Employees

As a part of Gallaudet University's Anti-Racism Commitment, Human Resources is taking critical steps to provide and require additional training for employees. These trainings will be provided in collaboration with the division of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI). Please note that we are working on adding more training. Please check this website regularly for updates. 


Unconscious Bias and Racial Oppression *open to regular status and extended temporary staff*
Presenter: Victorica Monroe (Monroe Pedagogy)
This training program consists of two workshops: Unconscious Bias and Racial Oppression. Attendees will how the brain works and how people's unconscious bias responds to various situations and analyzes deeply on the different levels of whiteness and racism in today's society. The training program will be held on Wednesday and Friday from 9 AM EST to 12 PM EST through Zoom. Each program will be offered to up to 30 participants.

Group 1: Wednesday, September 23, 2020 and Friday, September 25, 2020
Group 2: Wednesday, September 30, 2020 and Friday, October 2, 2020

This training program consists of two workshops: Unconscious Bias and Racial Oppression. The training program will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 and Thursday, October 8, 2020 from 2 PM EST to 5 PM EST through Zoom. Up to 30 participants can join.

To apply to participate in the program, please complete the application form. Due to limited availability, a committee, which includes representatives from HR, OESOC and GSC, will review and approve the applications to ensure there is a diverse pool of participants. Application deadline: Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at 12:00 PM EST

Facilitated Discussion-Recalling and Using Your Whiteness: A White Privilege Autobiography *open to regular status and extended temporary staff, faculty, and teachers*
Facilitated by: Victorica Monroe (Monroe Pedagogy)

This program offers a facilitated discussion for white people who will recall their lives about their attitude, behaviors, and interaction with Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC), and how they use their whiteness during their lifetime. The 8-week program will be held on Tuesdays from October 13, 2020 to December 8, 2020 from 2 PM EST to 4:30 PM EST through Zoom. There is no class on Tuesday, November 24, 2020.
