Anti-Racism Training for Employees

As a part of Gallaudet University's Anti-Racism Commitment, Human Resources is taking critical steps to provide additional training for employees. These trainings are provided in collaboration with the division of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI). Please note that we are working on adding more training. Please check this website regularly for updates. 

Unconscious Bias and Racial Oppression
Presenter: Victorica Monroe (Monroe Pedagogy)
This training program consists of two workshops: Unconscious Bias and Racial Oppression. Attendees will how the brain works and how people's unconscious bias responds to various situations and analyzes deeply on the different levels of whiteness and racism in today's society. Each two-day program will be offered to up to 30 participants. Participants who attend on both days will receive a certificate.

Group 1: Wednesday, September 23, 2020 and Friday, September 25, 2020
Group 2: Wednesday, September 30, 2020 and Friday, October 2, 2020
Group 3: Tuesday, October 6, 2020 and Thursday, October 8, 2020

Facilitated Discussion-Recalling and Using Your Whiteness: A White Privilege Autobiography 
Facilitated by: Victorica Monroe (Monroe Pedagogy)
This program offers a facilitated discussion for white people who will recall their lives about their attitude, behaviors, and interaction with Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC), and how they use their whiteness during their lifetime. To learn more about the facilitated group discussion, please view this video. 

Group 1: October 13, 2020 to December 8, 2020. 
Group 2: Wednesday, March 3, 2021 to Wednesday, April 28, 2021 (no class on April 7, 2021).

NEW: How to be an Antiracist Effectively 
Presenter: Victorica Monroe (Monroe Pedagogy)
This two-day workshop examines how white people use their antiracist work to dismantle racial disparities and different types of racism. It will be held on Monday, February 15, 2021 and Friday, February 19, 2021 from 12 PM to 3 PM Eastern time. Participants who attend on both days will receive a certificate.

NEW: Transformative Thinking
Presenter: Victorica Monroe (Monroe Pedagogy)
This one-day workshop will focus on discussing the process of normalizing the transformative thinking approach in various situations. It will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 from 12 PM to 3 PM Eastern Time. Participants who attend on will receive a certificate.
