"A Taste of Silent Cinema" presentation to be held March 4, 2019

Join us Monday, March 4, noon-2 p.m., JSAC 1011, for a special presentation about silent films. This workshop will be a broad overview of the earliest days of cinema that will include the birth of movies, the development of narrative storytelling, and the beginnings of the Hollywood star system – all before sound came along. This lecture will include film clips, a short break, and time for questions and discussion.

Special guest Andrea Passafiume is the Program Director for Docs in Progress, a non-profit organization dedicated to documentary storytelling and the development of emerging documentary filmmakers. She is also an Assistant Programmer of documentaries for the Tribeca Film Festival. She has taught a variety of film history and culture classes at the college level and spent eight years at Turner Broadcasting in Atlanta where she served as the Media Services Supervisor for Turner Classic Movies. She earned her M.A. and B.F.A. in Cinema Studies from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.
