Anti-racism Training for Gallaudet staff

On September 3, Human Resources sent an announcement about anti-racism training in collaboration with the Division of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, the Gallaudet Staff Council, and the Organization for Equity for Staff of Color. There was an overwhelming response for the Unconscious Bias and Racial Oppression workshops. It is so inspiring to see many employees showing a willingness to learn and unpack.

Due to the amount of interest, Monroe Pedagogy will provide the two-day workshops again on Tuesday, October 6 and Thursday, October 8 from 2 to 5 p.m. Eastern Time. This training will be open to regular and extended temporary staff and faculty.

To apply, please complete this application form. Please note that employees who completed the training sessions will receive a certificate of completion. The application deadline is Wednesday, September 30 at noon Eastern Time.

For the facilitated discussion, we recognized that the commitment twice a week during the mornings can be difficult for some employees. After requests from employees, Monroe Pedagogy has agreed to provide the facilitated discussion on Tuesdays from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Eastern Time from October 13 through December 8 (no class on Tuesday, November 24). This will be open to regular and extended temporary staff and faculty.

Those who attend at least seven sessions will receive a certificate of completion. Monroe Pedagogy has created a helpful video to help employees understand what the facilitated group discussion entails.

To apply, please complete this application form. The application deadline is Monday, October 5 at noon Eastern Time
