Deaf and hard of hearing participants needed for study that evaluates the combination of ASR captions to VRS calls

Deaf and hard of hearing adults are needed to participate in a research study that evaluates the combination of Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) captions to Video Relay Service (VRS) calls.

The Gallaudet University Technology Access Program (TAP) is conducting the study to examine how ASR captions can improve effectiveness and efficiency in VRS calls. The expected duration of the study is about an hour. If eligible, participants in this study will receive $25 for their participation.

Eligibility requirements include:

  1. Must be 18 years or older
  2. Have normal vision or corrected to normal with glasses or contact lenses. You must be able to comfortably read text on a computer monitor
  3. Must be deaf, hard-of-hearing, or have some other form of hearing loss
  4. Must be a regular VRS user
