Gallaudet University to Honor the Legacy of Bernard N. Bragg, ’52 & H-’88

Bernard Bragg

Bernard Nathan Bragg, ’52 & H-’88, an icon of stage and screen, was perhaps the most instantly recognizable deaf person in the world. It can fairly be said that he blazed the path for generations of deaf people to enter the performing arts. He passed away on October 29, 2018, shortly after celebrating his 90th birthday. The university’s appreciation of Bernard Bragg chronicles his lifetime of ground-breaking achievements and his many contributions to society.

Please join us in a celebration of Bernard Bragg’s life on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at the Gallaudet University Museum in Chapel Hall, where he performed as an undergraduate student. The doors will open at 2:30 p.m., and the program will begin at 3 p.m. A light reception will follow. To request deaf-blind interpreting services or interpreting accommodations, please email president.office@gallaudet.edu and gis.confirmations@gallaudet.edu by Wednesday, February 27.

Contributions in Bernard Bragg’s memory may be made to the Bernard Bragg, '52 & H-'88, Performing Arts Chair Fund at Gallaudet University.

This celebration is sponsored by the Office of the President. For more information, please contact the Office of Alumni Relations at alumni.relations@gallaudet.edu.

We look forward to seeing you on March 13!
