GSR site visit to be held February 13-14, 2019

Our current General Studies curriculum (GSR) was adopted in 2007 and was recognized by our accrediting body and by our peers as bold and innovative.  Now, more than ten years later, the time has come to conduct a thorough review of our GSR curriculum to ensure that we are providing our students with the best possible foundation for their undergraduate education.

On Wednesday and Thursday, February 13 and 14, the General Studies program review site visit will take place. A team of three reviewers will be on campus:  Mr. Marvin Miller, Deafhood Instructor and Facilitator, Deafhood Foundation; Dr. Nathan Rein, Ursinus College in Collegeville, PA; and Dr. Hershell (Nikki) Proctor-Walden, Claflin University in Orangeburg, South Carolina.

The program review process began with a self-study led by GSR program director Leslie Rach and director of the office of institutional research, Lindsay Buchko (see attached).  Numerous faculty and staff participated in the self-study during 2017-2018 and contributed to the development of the report which was shared with faculty early last month. The reviewers received the self-study and supporting materials in advance of their visit and will now be on campus to meet with a variety of stakeholders, including the GSR program director, program coordinators, faculty, department chairs, administrators, current students and alumni.

Please come to the panel meeting on Thursday, February 14, from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. in JSAC 1011. Please send special interpreting needs to Paige Franklin at paige.franklin@gallaudet.edu.
