Invitation to Participate in "White Fragility" Cross-Division Book Discussions

Several campus community members have expressed interest in discussing  Robin DiAngelo's book,"White Fragility" in small groups.  I am offering to guide the initial discussion of three consecutive 1-hour sessions at Ely Center 113. Other participants can volunteer to guide the subsequent ones. To keep the discussion productive where all the participants have balanced airtime for sharing, registration for this book discussion is capped at 7 people. Please register early to reserve your spot. Scheduling will be based on participants' availability. Register Here The opportunity to continue beyond the first 3 sessions can be discussed once the group is established.

This is also inspiration for others to host their own book discussion groups! Book discussions on campus can foster deeper understanding of our roles in the complexities of race and equity in all aspects of our lives. Doing this work is tied to University's commitment to creating a thriving community where everyone's sense of belonging exists.  I'd be happy to work with you on how to start up a book discussion for your program or department and provide guidelines and questions. The Office of the Ombuds looks forward to this campus engagement opportunity. Any questions, please feel free to contact Elizabeth Stone or call at 202.559.5079.
