Law firm offering free legal assistance for DACA renewal applications

From: International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS), Office of Research Support and International Affairs (RSIA), Dawes House

To: Gallaudet's international students and campus employees

The Trump administration will begin phasing out the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), a program which allowed individuals who were brought to the United States as children and met specific criteria to work and live in the United States without being deported.

The law firm Morgan Lewis, through ISSS, is offering free legal assistance to current DACA recipients who may have questions or want help filing an application to renew. DACA renewal applications for those whose permits expire by March 5, 2018, will be considered on a case-by-case basis, if they are submitted by October 5.

We recommend that individuals in the Gallaudet community who are current DACA recipients contact Morgan Lewis (via ISSS) to determine whether they are eligible to submit a renewal application, and for assistance with the application. Please note that no new DACA applications are being accepted now.

Again, the deadline to file renewal applications is October 5, 2017. Contact ISSS now.
