Learn about the Johnson Scholarship Foundation at Gallaudet's JSF webpage

Over the past 27 years, the Theodore R. & Vivian M. Johnson Scholarship Foundation (JSF) has awarded more than $11 million to Gallaudet University for scholarships and internship stipends for our students.

The late Mr. Johnson got his wealth from stock ownership in United Parcel Service (UPS), his previous employer. He wanted to use his wealth to help others who were less fortunate. Through the establishment of the Johnson Scholarship Foundation and Mr. Johnson’s vision, the Foundation has quietly and confidently enabled the education of thousands of students with disabilities, economically disadvantaged students, and indigenous peoples. The Foundation believes that through education, all things are possible — careers are born, citizens become responsible, and people become productive members of society.

Gallaudet University gives thanks to the Johnson Scholarship Foundation for their unwavering support and partnership over the years, supporting over 4,000 deaf and hard of hearing students! Watch several of our scholarship recipients express their appreciation for the Johnson Scholarship Foundation and how it has impacted their academic lives at our JSF webpage.
