On-Campus Job Opportunities: ASL Language Development Program

The ASL Language Development Program is seeing a Graduate Assistant.

Summary:

This position is to provide support for the ASL Language Development Program. The duties of a graduate student require up to a maximum of 15 hours of work per week during during the following academic year 2020-2021.  The GA will be expected to start October 1st and work closely with the Coordinator.

Duties:

  1. Meet with the coordinator on a weekly basis
  2. Assist the coordinator with scheduling various meeting times with faculty
  3. Assist with submitting announcements to Gallaudet Digest
  4. Conduct surveys for all the four programs
  5. Create and design possible ways to incorporate resources for faculty to access and learn about ASL

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or in the process to complete a Master's degree in Sign Language Education or ASL linguistics
  • Demonstrated ASL tutoring experience
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of ASL linguistics
  • Ability to use current technologies to create and develop various projects as applicable to the program (e.g., Blackboard, FCPX)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Open-minded, approachable, authentic, flexible, adaptive and collaborative
  • Ability to ensure the utmost discretion and confidentiality in all matters
  • Fluency of both languages: ASL and English
  • Understanding of copyright, trademark and intellectual property rights
  • Familiarity with social justice trends and issues
