Paid Research Opportunity

The Gallaudet University Technology Access Program (TAP) is conducting a study to compare how people who are deaf or hard of hearing, but can speak on the telephone, use an amplified telephone versus an Internet-Protocol Captioned Telephone Service (IP-CTS). The study will be done in one 90 minute session. Those eligible to participate in the study can receive $50 for their participation. 

In order to participate in the study, you must meet the following requirements: 

  • You must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Have normal vision or corrected to normal with glasses or contact lenses. You must be able to comfortably read text on a captioned telephone monitor.
  • You must be deaf, hard of hearing, or a person with a hearing loss in both ears.
  • You must use a hearing device (hearing aid or CI) when you make phone calls.
  • You must use a voice phone/captioned telephone, both listening and speaking (with or without captions), an average of three times per week.
