Resource for those affected by DACA: Office of the Ombuds to offer help

The Trump administration has decided to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals Program (known as DACA). This decision is distressing for many.

President Roberta J. Cordano's recent e-mail to the campus community emphasizes that Gallaudet University is a diverse community that welcomes and supports all its students, faculty, and staff. The Office of the Ombuds is committed to providing support and resources to all, regardless of immigration status. The Office is a safe and neutral place where you can discuss your concerns confidentially. All conversations are off the record. The Ombuds can help you address the concerns by:

  • listening to your concerns and answering your questions
  • generating alternatives and options
  • providing information about University and community resources and referrals

Walk-ins are always welcome. To make sure that the Ombuds has enough time to listen and guide you, it is recommended to make appointments in advance. To schedule an appointment, please email ombuds@gallaudet.edu or VP at (202) 559-5079. The Ombuds Office is located at Ely Center 113.
