Students represent Gallaudet at annual "Out of the Darkness Community Walk"

On Saturday, October 28, a group of Gallaudet students from the Peer Adviser and Peer Health Advocates programs represented Gallaudet at the annual Out of the Darkness Community Walk on the Washington D.C. mall.

The community walk was sponsored by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) and is an annual event.  The goal of the walk is to reduce the number of suicides that happen each year and to raise awareness about mental health treatment. Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) recruited students to represent Gallaudet and Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions contributed materials that were on display.

Gallaudet will collaborate with AFSP in the spring for the annual Out of the Darkness Campus Walk on April 5, 2018.  CAPS, in collaboration with AFSP, will also sponsor the "International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day" on November 28
