Theatre and Dance Program presents ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST by Dale Wasserman, based on the novel by Ken Kesey, directed by Willy Conley

Theatre and Dance Program presents ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST by Dale Wasserman, based on the novel by Ken Kesey, directed by Willy Conley

Up until the 1970s, deaf people were occasionally misdiagnosed as being mentally ill or retarded, and some of them were sent to mental institutions. The play centers around one such hospital's day wards, run with factory-like efficiency by an iron-fisted nurse. She provides therapy and controls a group of hapless patients into mindless conformity...except for one new, free-spirited arrival who has other ideas.

Performances are November 7, 8, 9*, 15, and 16 at 8:00 p.m; and November 9*, 10, 16*, and 17 at 2:00 p.m.  in the Gilbert C. Eastman Studio Theatre, located in Elstad Annex 131, Gallaudet University, 800 Florida Avenue NE, Washington, DC 20002 [Metro Red Line – NoMa-Gallaudet station]. Free, on-campus parking is available.

PLEASE NOTE: Three (3) performances will be ASL ONLY, with no spoken English accompaniment: November 9 at 2:00 and 8:00 p.m. and November 16 at 2:00 pm.  The other six (6) performances will have spoken English accompaniment.

This production runs approximately two and a half (2.5) hours, including one (1) intermission.

Appropriate for patrons 16 years old and up due to mature subject matter and language. Children who are five years old or younger will not be permitted in the theatre.

Seating is limited to 100 seats per show. There will be one (1) late seating break 15 minutes after the show starts.
