Upcoming professional development opportunities now available for employees

Dear Gallaudet Employees:

As part of the Gallaudet Professional Development Program that was established by President Cordano, we are excited to share about two fantastic opportunities coming soon—one for supervisors and one for emerging new leaders! The purpose of the Gallaudet Professional Development Program is to support cohort-based learning that leads to transformative efforts and impacts for the betterment of Gallaudet University and Clerc Center.

We ask that supervisors do encourage themselves and their employees to apply and participate in either program. For those who will participate, they are not to use their leave in order to attend.

JULY 29-31, 2019
This three-day immersion program is designed for new and current supervisors as we acknowledge that managing others require new skills to handle new challenges. Often, supervisors do not receive any education or training on how to become a successful manager. This program will guide those involved in making the shift from being a successful individual contributor to an effective manager - one of the biggest and most difficult transitions for any leader.

AUGUST 1-2, 2019
Leadership is not defined by the job title. It's about developing the perspective, skills, and personal style that get results that matter. Individuals contributors get the work done as they lead project teams, serve as key role models in the organization, and are influential team members. Being an effective leader is crucial to one's personal success and the success of the organization. This two-day immersion program is developed to introduce the essentials of effective leadership for greater success.

There is an open application process for both programs. Please note the programs are only open to regular status and extended temporary employees. Go to our website to learn more about the application process and the criteria that will be used to select whom will participate. The deadline to accept application is June 24, 2019, and all applicants will be notified of their status on July 1, 2019.

Please contact Andy Schewe at or at (202) 250-2942.

Thank you for your time reading this announcement and be encouraged to apply.
