The Department of Science, Technology and Math hosted an ice-cream social hour on Thursday, October 10, 2019 at the Dolcezza Gelato on 14th Street NW. Students and faculty chatted over ice-cream and coffee. This was followed by a talk on gene editing at the Carnegie Institute of Science on P Street NW. The talk titled "The Transformative Power of CRISPR/Cas9" was given by Dr. Emmanuelle Charpentier, one of the scientists involved in developing the gene editing technique called CRISPR/Cas 9. More information about the technology can be found in a vlog created by the Biology major Gidoen Firl.
