    Dr. Danielle Thompson-Ochoa, G-’01 & G-’03, assistant professor, Department of Counseling, is a native of Trinidad and Tobago. Thompson-Ochoa returns home every summer to provide support, guidance and advocacy to deaf and hard of hearing children and adults on the twin islands.

    During summer 2018, Thompson-Ochoa, along with Dr. Paulson Skerritt, a professor in the School of Education at University of West Indies, St. Augustine Campus in Trinidad, and Shannon Winter, a teacher at Arkansas School for the Deaf, led and presented a week-long, intensive certificate workshop for educators of the deaf, titled "Certificate Programme for Educators of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Trinidad and Tobago". At the end of the workshop, participants received certificates.
