    Ichiro Kabasawa, executive director of the Nippon Foundation, visited Gallaudet on May 2. The Nippon Foundation supports Gallaudet students through two scholarship funds: the World Deaf Leadership (WDL) scholarship and Sasakawa International Scholarship (SIS). Kabasawa toured campus and met with President Roberta J. Cordano, faculty, staff, and students. Since 1999, SIS has supported 180 students from 48 nations, and since 2003, WDL has supported 18 full scholarships from 14 nations. The visit was hosted by the Office of Research Support and International Affairs (RSIA), and included discussions about the WDL and SIS scholarships, as well as potential collaboration efforts.
