The M.A. Program in International Development (IDMA) team led a collaborative deaf leadership training session in Quito, Ecuador, between August 6 and 11, 2018. This focused on promoting deaf women and youth leadership, in conjunction with men and other allies.

With generous support from a private donor, Maegan “Meg” Shanks, G-’15, IDMA adjunct faculty and program assistant, led the collaborative training team, along with Stephanie Niaupari, ’17, current IDMA graduate student, Eunice Avigail Vazquez, ’18, and six local Ecuadorian deaf co-trainers. The training was titled: "Fortalecimiento de Liderazgo Sordo Ecuatoriano para una Comunidad Innovativa y Sostenible [Strengthening Ecuadorian Deaf Leadership for Innovative and Sustainable Community]."
