    Nina Guzman, co-founder of Hands-On LESCO in Costa Rica, participated in a program by the U.S. State Department called the Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative (YLAI). On November 15, 2017, Guzman visited campus to learn ASL from experts in the Department of ASL and Deaf Studies. She also hosted a presentation at the SLCC Atrium to share some experiences about what she and her co-founder, Carlos, did in Hands-On LESCO, as well as happenings at Costa Rica to empower the deaf community there.
