Five deaf students from the National University Corporation, Tsukuba University of Technology (NTUT) gave a presentation, “A Taste of Japanese Deaf Culture,” at the JSAC Marketplace on March 7, 2018. They gave an overview of NTUT, described what the Japanese deaf community looked like, taught greetings in Japanese Sign Language, and gave the audience a virtual tour of Japan focusing on various types of sweet food that are associated with different regions.

The presenting students also gave out Japanese chocolates to the audience at the close of their presentation. There was great interest in the event, as evidenced by the large turn out and many passersby who stopped to watch.
