    On Saturday, June 16, President Roberta J. Cordano hosted a welcome luncheon for two 2018 Mandela Washington Fellows. Maria Chale from Malawi and Peter Kabethi from Kenya also took part in a pre-institute program at Gallaudet June 18-20, before embarking on their six-week training at various Academic Leadership Institutes in the US.

    Chale is an inclusive education coordinator with the Federation of Disability Organizations in Malawi, where she is involved in developing and implementing inclusive education practices in her district. Kabethi is a deaf teacher at Tumu Tumu School for the Deaf, Kenya. He has overseen sports competitions in which his school has won numerous trophies in several sporting disciplines.
