What I do as an eLearning Specialist at Gallaudet University:

  • Assist faculty, teachers, staff, and students to infuse technology into curricular and co-curricular activities
  • Work with academic and academic support units on curricular and co-curricular applications of technology in teaching and learning
  • Provide individual and group consultation and training
  • Introduce and maintain virtual reality, 3D printer and 3D scanner equipment in a public studio
  • Research opportunities to incorporate virtual reality and augmented reality applications into academic and administrative activities
  • Promote the effective use of distance learning technologies and online education, to include maintaining current knowledge of industry trends
  • Develop accessible contents and ensure that all accessible contents have met the web content accessibility guidelines
  • Develop content and materials to be used in ours or the client’s learning management system
  • Develop content for e-learning/Web-based training, instructor-led and self-paced learning modalities
  • Recommend instructional content design, course design, technology, instructional delivery options and assessment strategies to the eLearning team regarding the implementation of instructional training materials that meets key academic initiatives 
  • Translate necessary requirements into HTML code
  • Develop web contents to be incorporated into webpages and learning management system
  • Utilize state-of-the-art instructional design techniques and strategies to develop scripts, storyboards, presentations, worksheets, job aids, assessments and evaluations
  • Advise and assist faculty, teachers, staff, and students in creating technology-based and web-based learning materials and activities
  • Assist departments with technological concerns in forging strategy and implementation of a distributed learning plan for distance education
