Short Biography

Ms. Breen joined Government Department as adjunct instructor in fall of 2015 after more than 10 years working as a case manager and group home staff for Deaf Adults with Intellectual and Mental Disabilities in New York City and Washington D.C.  She is responsible for instructing Government courses pertaining to international relations. Ms. Breen also teaches 230 courses for General Studies with her own design on human rights and history of deaf and people with disabilities through the lens of history, disability, class, gender, and race.   During her childhood Ms. Breen mainstreamed in public schools in upstate New York and spent her final two years of high school at Model Secondary School for the Deaf.

 In intervals, Ms. Breen has wide range of activities. She is a museum docent who was trained at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (MET). She has previously given tours at the MET, Smithsonian American Art Museum, and currently gives tours at National Gallery of Art (NGA).

Ms. Breen has previously worked as a consultant or part time staff for United States International Council on Disabilities (USICD), International Deaf Emergency (IDE), and American University's Institute on Disabilities and Public Policy (IDPP).  Ms. Breen briefly volunteered for Gallaudet's Research Support & International Affairs (RSIA)

Outside the United States, Ms. Breen lived in Limerick, Ireland 2001-2002 and Blantyre, Malawi for four months in 2009.  She has briefly worked in Bangkok, Thailand for three weeks with IDPP program in 2012.
