Keith M. Cagle, Ph.D.. is full professor and chairperson of Department of Interpretation and Translation at Gallaudet University. He has been teaching at Gallaudet University since 2012. He received his Ph.D. in Educational Linguistics from the University of New Mexico, an M.A. in Educational Administration from California State University at Northridge, and a B.S.W. from Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) through the National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID). He was the Interpreter Education program chair at Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, North Carolina. He was the manager of two Regional Resource Centers for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing serving 27 counties in western North Carolina. He was also the principal of middle school at North Carolina School for the Deaf (NCSD) in Morganton. He supervised the interpreter specialists in both regional centers and the interpreter at NCSD. He has three grown-up children and one grandson.

Keith M. Cagle, Ph.D., currently is the department chair leading the Department of Interpretation and Translation. At one time, he served as the program chair of Interpreter Education program at Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, North Carolina. 

Keith M. Cagle, Ph.D., has been teaching undergraduate and graduate ASL and interpreting courses since 1986 at the different colleges and universities: NTID, University of Rochester, Western Piedmont Community College, Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC), and Gardener-Webb University in North Carolina, the University of Northern Colorado, the University of New Mexico (Albuquerque), and currently at Gallaudet University. He led the curriculum development and revisions on several ASL and interpreting courses and programs for four interpreting education programs in North Carolina. He developed undergraduate courses at NTID, Gardner-Webb University, and CPCC, and developed graduate courses for the University of Northern Colorado. His interests are in ASL, Deaf Culture, Linguistics and Pedagogy. 

Keith M. Cagle, Ph.D., currently is serving as the Vice-President on Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) Center on Assessment of Sign Language Interpretation (CASLI) board. He was American Sign Language Teachers Association (ASLTA) president from 1990-1995 and the Evaluation chairperson from 2000-2015. He served on North Carolina interpreter licensing board, and on the national and state committees for ASL bill, standards, outcomes and screening. He has given numerous professional development trainings across the U.S. and in other countries including Canada, Ghana, and Kenya. At Gallaudet University, Dr. Cagle is serving on several committees including the Curriculum for Undergraduate Education (CUE).
