Short Biography

Born in Malawi, Africa, and ninth generation citizen of South Africa. Attended the De la Bat School for the Deaf in Western Cape, South Africa. Graduated with matric honors, and went on to get a certificate in Graphic Design from MacTrain College in Muizenberg, South Africa. Traveled overseas to America to further educational opportunities at Gallaudet and McDaniel. Graduated from both institutions with Summa Cum Laude honors.

Actively involved in developing GSR 104 (Quantitative Reasoning) materials since Fall 2012. See some work: Bilingual Approaches Seminar (BAS) and Multicultural Transformation (MCT). 

Currently serving as a GSR 104 coordinator, Math Center coordinator, and a member of Gallaudet Scholarship of Learning and Teaching Initiative.

My primary responsibilities in my role of Coordinator of the Math Center are as follows:

  • Lead and coordinate the curriculum, teaching and learning activities and all other academic aspects of the Math Center within the Tutorial and Instructional Programs (TIP).
  • Collaborate with the Director of Academic Advising and Tutorial and TIP, the Coordinator of the Writing Center, the Coordinator of the ASL Center, and my colleagues in the Department of Science, Technology and Mathemaitcs (DSTM) to provide effective tutoring support for undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Academic Advising and TIP to recruit, train and assign math tutors.
  • Provide consultation and training to Gallaudet faculty on effective strategies for developing and strengthening math skills in their courses

My primpary responsibilities in my role of GSR 104 Coordinator are as follows:

  • Teach GSR courses
  • Report tot the Director of the General Studies program
  • Attend GSR program meetings and coordinator meetings
  • Participate in Admissions/Open House Expos
  • One month of summer work - teaching and program development
  • GSR Cluster:
    • Recruit instructors to teach GSR courses
    • Schedule and lead meetings of the GSR cluter
    • Maintain GSR cluster and GSR Total Package on BlackBoard
    • Schedule GSR cluster courses in collaboration with the other coordinator
